
East Cambs Sport & Physical Activity Programme for the Over 55's
The EC Sport Mature & Active programme is a project lead by East Cambridgeshire District Council that brings together physical activity, sport and leisure and promotes healthy living for people over the age of 55 within East Cambridgeshire.
From Badminton to T'ai Chi to tea dances, we aim to coordinate, promote and deliver activities in all pockets of our district, making activities accessible and affordable.

Benefits of Exercise
Getting involved in physical activity and maintaining or improving your general fitness as you get older is very important. Regular suitable exercise can really benefit your body, for example, regular physical activity can have the following benefits:
- It helps keep you strong, flexible and full of energy.
- It helps keep you mobile and independent.
- It helps to reduce blood pressure, and the risk of coronary heart disease.
- It's a great way to meet friends and develop new interests.
If you haven't exercised for a while, have an existing medical condition or any other concerns about your health, have a chat with your G.P. before taking part in physical activity.
Health Walks
Heart Beat Health Walks have been organised in partnership between East Cambridgeshire District Council and Cambridgeshire Community Services.
Walks are for people who may be less active but who would like kick-start a healthier lifestyle. They will also give you the chance to meet other local people and get to know your local area better. No need to book, just turn up and it's free.
Walks will be on routes accessible for wheelchairs and prams and open to everyone of all abilities and will only take around 30 minutes.
