The East Cambs Youth Games was launched during the first National School Sport Week (NSSW) in July 2008. East Cambridgeshire District Council designed a model in partnership with Witchford School Sports Partnerships that enables Young People to compete in variety of sporting competitions and participate in diversionary taster sports.
East Cambridgeshire’s Youth Games has a core purpose to embrace NSSW and to celebrate the themes of Cultural Olympiad. The key outcome is to provide Young People with greater opportunities to access community sport through School-to-Club links established during the games.
The Youth Games is a catalyst for achieving the five-hour-offer, as curricular and community sport are combined together under a single brand. Each year new people are introduced to Sport through the Youth Games, and this is sustained through the School-to-Club links project, thus creating a future legacy for sport and physical activity.
