BUILDINGS OF LOCAL INTEREST
Nomination for inclusion of the Local Register of Buildings of Local Interest
Buildings of Local Interest, is a local designation that will reinforce efforts to preserve the character and appearance of the District. It enables the special interest of these buildings/structures to be properly considered against development proposals submitted to the District Council.
It should be noted that inclusion on a local register is not the same as being Nationally Listed. Inclusion on the local register will not alter the existing planning controls that already apply to that building/structure. It will simply change the level of consideration given to ensuring that development affecting it is appropriate and carefully considered.
The Council has produced a guidance note which explains the nomination process and the criteria that should be used.
