Coronavirus: Changes to our Services

Our focus and actions will remain aligned with national advice. We are putting in place contingency plans to address the impact of the coronavirus outbreak on our services.

We remain open for business and as the situation develops we will continue to change and adapt our services.

We will keep this page up to date with news of any changes to our services.

Building Control

Inspections have been suspended until further notice.

Committee Meetings

Council and Committee meetings, with the exception of Planning Committee, have been cancelled until the end of May 2020.  The next Planning Committee meeting, 20th April 2020 will be conducted remotely. Please see Council Meetings for further information.

Leisure Centres

The Hive Leisure Centre is closed until further notice.  For more information visit The Hive Leisure Centre.

Markets

Ely Markets are closed until further notice.  They will re-open when it is safe to do so.  Please visit the Ely Markets website for details of traders offering home deliveries of fruit, vegetables and other essentials.

Play Areas

In line with strict Government guidelines on social distancing to help prevent the spread of coronavirus, ALL play areas have been closed.

Public Toilets

The public toilets at Ship Lane and Palace Green in Ely have been closed in order to minimise staffing requirements during the lock down period.  The toilets at Cloisters and Barton Road remain open.

Reception

The Council Reception is closed to the Public. As a Council we are committed to keeping our services available but we need to work with the community to slow the spread of the disease.  To do this we want to avoid face to face contact wherever we can to protect our customers and our staff.
 
We ask all customers to access services via our website where possible, or to contact us by telephone or email. Most enquiries can be resolved over the telephone or online. However, if we agree you need to see us, we will arrange an appointment.

Household recycling centres across Cambridgeshire are planning to reopen on Monday 11 May. See Cambridgeshire County Council Household Recycling Centres for further information.
 
Please note that the Cambridgeshire County Council are no longer taking calls regarding waste so they can prioritise urgent phone calls.
